Kobe de Peuter was born in Belgium in 1979, but actually lives in Barcelonne. Drawing has been a part of his life ever since he can remember.

Kobe de Peuter´s work defines itrself with his own word: “In my work human interaction takes a dominating place. (…). It's a perpetual exploration, based on a daily observation, during which the same rhetorical question regularly returns: What does an individual means in this society? (…) In an attempt to create a grasp on this hardly definable subject, I'm analyzing it into several aspects. 1.Portraits. This is where it all started. Initially I had the purpose to find a way to express accurately my personal feelings towards another. During this exploration the faces lost their identities and got abstracted into curls, noses and lips; more and more representing the unknown individual, (…) 2.Proportions (+ portraits) The proportions give the composition its character with their shapes, colors and contrasts. (…). The colors and contrasts are meant to tauten the composition visually and emotionally, sometimes to the point of sarcasm. 3.Connections (+ portraits + proportions) 'Connections' is a fairly new aspect. It resulted from an exploration with the intention to construct a system, which would break the paintings out of their isolation. (…) . Each new painting is now systematically part of this larger whole; it is connected. (…), the viewer (the individual) grows more able to construct his own composition. He becomes more significant as his possibilities to play his personal game of proportions grow. He is now able to interact.
