Doctor by trade, Lluís Cañas has given up the medicine practice for his passion, the Hotel Trade.
After having finished his studies and short spells in different restaurants, he enrolled in the Mey Hoffmann school to exercise on what he always preferred.
He specialized himself on the Mediterranean and creation cuisine, training with Manuel de La Osa and in the Las Rejas (Las Pedroneras, Cuenca) Restaurant, besides having had other experiences in São Paulo and renowned restaurants in Barcelona.
His own cuisine is ever present in Bell Amic, far from the unnecessary eccentricities of the "plant cuisine" without however turning down a certain exoticism in the presentation or recurring to the his own Galician roots.
Recently opened, this restaurant fulfills a void space of the quality Mediterranean cuisine in the Gothic Quarter. It’s a calm and welcoming place that invites for a restful meal. Its designation comes after the young Lluís having read the Guy Maupassant’s work of the same title.
Have a seat and be prepared to enjoy an agreeable time to the sound of a Fado or relaxing Brazilian music or even modern Flamenco, while savouring the culinary proposal, having in account that the food here is the main player without disguises or originality excesses.
An offer that bets on the product quality and the seasonal rotation, both for the menu and the midday menu, where there is space for traditional Mediterranean traditional with a Catalan accents...some exotic salad and the delicious cous-cous are featured. Of course the chef’s personal touch is never missing.
As an entrée, we recommend the scrambled eggs with broad beans, black pudding and crunchy cheese. Of the meats, we propose the veal sirloin with glazed tuber on ginger; of the fish, the cod with and mustard sauce; as for desserts, the Brownie with milk ice cream milk cream or the Apple Tatin with lychee soup.
The midday menu has a first, a second, dessert, bread, water or wine and coffee.
Don't hesitate to ask for the tea lists, another specialty, of which we point out the dense and aromatic Samarkanda or the black Oloong.
Group bookings are accepted during the week but it is advised to book in advance. BarceloCa readers are welcomed with a Spanish Cava.
