Delphine Delas stands out for being a theoretician in the world of art, by her university education in Art History in Bordeaux and Paris, through her PhD theses on Chillida or the permanent collection of the MNCARS in Madrid or the multiple collaborations as critique in many magazines inside and out of our country. We find, therefore, an artist that has a complete training, that allows her to have a much wider vision of the contemporary art than that of many artists of her generation.
Her work remains directly related with the "art in the street", with the "graffiti" that looks for newer ways of canalizing the expresion of the work in the street than using it as a basic channel of the work itself. We also find other very clear influences on the world of the comic, especially of the Japanese “Manga” and the use of those animal characters of poses and behavior very human. We also in general find the long influence on the contemporary art of Jean Dubuffet and the Art Brut in some part of her work. The work of Delphine Delas has a component of research, not only by the constant evolution of hercharacters, but by the changes that the stroke of her drawing has had throughout the last 5 years. The work that we show in the Freud intends to be an example of that evolution, with works of searched simplicity and clear line and others that would be approached to a more expressionist world, but all of them full of the the fineness in the messages, devastating in some cases, that define a great artist.
