After an extensive North American tour in September and October, the Killers, hailing from Las Vegas, Nevada, in the States, are getting ready to take Europe by storm. The European leg of their tour will include just one Spanish stop, happily in Barcelona. So, if you go, expect to see people from all over Spain.
In addition to playing their only Spanish gig, the band will be serving up tunes from their new album "Sam's Town".
So forget the hype they've been shoving down our throats all year; forget all the dull, superficial music on offer these days; forget the countless new launches that aspire to eternal glory on the basis of overblown write-ups in industry flyers alone; forget the latest notch in the long line of cookie-cutter "next big things"... Over the next few months, nothing will even come close to achieving the sonic excellence of the Killer’s sophomore LP "Sam’s Town”.
Backed by the solid work of two production geniuses of the likes of Flood and Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, U2), the Killers have put out a brilliant album, bursting with exquisite, guitar-driven pop-rock anthems.
"When You Were Young", the first single off the new release, is a masterpiece based on an impeccable build-up and a riff that will have you humming along before you even know what hit you. "Sam's Town" doesn't just reaffirm the group's reputation as the real thing. It places them at the head of a movement that is still searching for a name, a movement refreshingly free of vacuous headlines and ephemeral pretensions, one that consists of pure, universal, 100% enjoyable pop rock.
