It may be like dining in a garden, or more like a design-concept fantasy forest, and the result is very smart indeed. The award winning décor features tree-like columns, teal banquettes, forest-floor coloured carpets, and nature-coloured details. The service is of the professional, courteous type, and the Eixample crowds who favour this perennially popular spot love it. The classic and new Italian menu features dishes like baked Brie with marmalade of tomato and apple, Giardinetto Risotto of mushrooms and Parmesan, Fettuccine with truffles in season, chicken scallops with mint, and plums with Armagnac Brandy. Also, the Sofia Loren Spaghetti of bay leaves, the Panzerotti a la funghi (mushrooms) and the Risotto Giardinetto. Piano music tinkles in the background.

Larger groups info:
Barcelona has never tired of the award-winning design of Il Giardinetto, first recognised in the 1970s. Your group here will ooh and aah at the forest-like setting of the dining room, with painted tree trunks, leafy detailing along the walls, and tracery of leaves overhead. The service is renowned for its professionalism. Italian specialties include starter of aubergine tart with courgettes and cheese, pasta course of their own pasta al laurel de Sofia Loren, main course of steamed hake with French beans, and sweet of tiramisú. A good choice for business or personal entertaining, though there is no private room, though larger groups can take advantage of the first floor room.
