In the Bohemian district of Gracia, you'll find Laurak, a sleek, elegant restaurant serving creative Basque cuisine to an enthusiastic following. The restaurant itself is smartly modern, with lots of wood paneling complemented by a palette of bronze and peach. You wouldn't be afraid to bring your boss here; it's lively at lunchtime. The menu includes dishes like starter of salad of pig's trotters and squid with pine nut vinaigrette, fish course of monk fish with squid ravioli, Beasain sausage and green bean puree, meat course of duck Foie over banana Touffee with mango cubes and Balsamic vinegar sauce, and sweet of chocolate orange Souffle with sorbet. The wine list is a treasure trove of Spanish wines.
Larger groups info: This charming, assured Gracia area restaurant is a fine choice for smaller gatherings, partly because the ambience is tranquil and pleasant, and partly because the two private rooms best accommodate intimate groups of 7 and 18 maximum, respectively. The menu is Catalan with license to invent, and features dishes like grilled lobster salad with candied tomatoes, Arugula, and classic Romesco sauce (a local tomato based passion), main course of sirloin with potato and sausage tart with apple puree and white port sauce, and dessert of white chocolate soup and mango skewer with grapefruit and carmelised Modena vinegar. Intriguing wine list.
