Approximately thirty-four seconds stroll from the tourist centre of Barcelona, the Plaza Catalunya, and set right on Rambla Catalunya, this Trobador (one of a small, popular group) is a very smart modern brasserie. The menu is Mediterranean with special emphasis on dishes from the holm oak grill. The décor has the trademark palette of purple, blue and red, with bold troubadour's harlequin check here and there. The atmosphere is relaxed and buzzing, and there are some tables outside where you can watch the world stroll by. Dishes may include starter of Pâté de Campagne with Mesclun salad and tomato marmalade, second course of Suquet (a Catalan fish and seafood stew) Cadaqués style with baked potato, and dessert of port-infused melon.

Larger groups info:
Trobador Rambla Catalunya just couldn't be more central and that alone makes it a fine choice for gatherings of friends, family or colleagues. But everything else about it reinforces that notion, the bright, buzzing atmosphere, the bold décor, the healthful Mediterranean menu, the friendly bar. A semi-private area can accommodate up to 30, if a bit of privacy is what you require. Group menus include dishes like appetizer of salmon and prawns Carpaccio, second course of tuna Tataki with natural tomato jam and soft garlic Mousseline, and dessert of basket of forest fruits with English cream and fresh mint. Good wines and swift service.
