One could define Maurice Béjart's L'Amour-La Danse as an autobiography in dance. Or alternatively, it might be construed as an exploration of the love leitmotiv in Béjart's work. But first and foremost this return visit of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne to the Liceu is a new chapter in the process of reflection and recapitulation on which Béjart has been engaged in recent years. L'Amour-La Danse comprises ten excerpts from his finest ballets, linked by a sequence whose dramaturgical design aims solely at creating rhythm and giving the audience aesthetic pleasure. The show is an opportunity to rediscover such renowned Béjart creations as Le Sacre du Printemps, Roméo et Juliette, Héliogabale, Le Presbytère and Sept Danses Grecques, most of which have already won applause from Liceu audiences. This repertoire, which left an indelible mark on 20th century dance, is now offered in the form of a single show about the world of Béjart.
