Josep Maria Jujol i Gibert was born in Tarragona in 1879 and obtained an architectural degree in 1906. Three years later he is named acting auxiliary teacher in the Escuela de Arquitectura de Barcelona (School of Architecture of Barcelona).
He was an architect of the Modernism school and close collaborator of Antoni Gaudí.
He is marked with his own particular style in his architectural work. His work is characterized with a great sensibility with natural forms, the artisan detail and the reutilisation of materials or waste.
His work expresses affection for the country and his religious beliefs. He died in Barcelona in 1949.
