Cristina Hoyos was born in Seville, on 13 June 1946, starting to dance at the age of twelve. Her debut was in the Spanish Pavilion theatre in the New York´s World Fair, in ´64/5.

In ´69, Antonio Gades made her in to his dancing partner, until the dissolution of the company, when Cristina Hoyos decided to create her own show that turned her in to the best known Flamenco dancer by the Japanese press.

In 1978 she returned to join Gades and a new company shooting with Carlos Saura the cinematography version of "Bodas de Sangre" ("Blood Wedding"). This collaboration with Gades continues and in ´81 they create the company Ballet Antonio Gades. Her collaboration with Saura repeats in ´Carmen´ and in ´El Amor Brujo´ (´Love, the Magician´).

Finally, in 1988 she creates her own dance company where she debuted in June 1989 in Rex Theatre in Paris.

In 1992, she performs with her company in the inaugural session of the Olympics of Barcelona.

In ´06, she was in Barcelona presenting Viaje al Sur (Travel to the South), in the Apolo Theatre.
