The Labyrinth Gardens of Horta is a historical garden situated in an ancient an estate owned by the Desvalls family, close to the Collserola mountains. The park includes a neo-classical garden from the XVIII Century and a romantic garden from the XIX Century.
Its construction commenced in 1791 when the owner of the property, Joan Antoni Desvalls i d'Ardena, designed a neo-classical garden with the collaboration of the architect Domenico Bagutti. The ejection of the works was run by Jaume and Andreu Valls and the French gardener Jospeh Delvalet.
In the final years of XIX, it was converted in a social and cultural gathering centre, with open air theatre performances.
In 1967, the Desvalls family handed the park to the City Council of Barcelona, which was opened up to the public in 1971. With funds in the European Union, it subdued a great restoration in 1994.
The gardened zone of the park is surrounded by an extensive Mediterranean forest.
