The work of Hannah Collins (London, 1956) is a reflection on the passage of time and on human presence. Her works are investigations that reveal an explicit social history, not far removed from news. Though interdisciplinary in nature, her work is based on photography (featuring works that are monumental in scale) and on experimental cinematography (with a film language that verges on the documentary and the staged scene). This exhibition, curated by David Campany, will be opened until the 24th of August.

La Mina 2001 - 2004
In 2001 Hannah Collins and her crew shot fourteen hours of 35mm footage in a large housing area in the city of Barcelona that is home to a substantial gypsy community. The resulting film moves between observational documentary and a more collaborative, performative approach. Several of the people depicted are acting, but they are portraying themselves. While certain moments are planned and staged, others are spontaneous happenings caught on film.

Parallel, 2007
Parallel is a film that rises to the challenge of finding a way to represent the international movement of people that is so characteristic of contemporary life. Collins uses three screens to describe three very different experiences of time and place that have resulted from immigration.
