The mission of the Obra Social de Caixa Catalunya (Social Work of Caixa Catalonia) is to return to the society part of the benefit that it obtained from the business, responding in an efficient and innovative way to the social necessities of the moment.
Caixa Catalunya centres its Obra Social on four big fields, through programmes and performances carried out by four specialising foundations:
Fundació Caixa Catalunya deals with the promotion of culture.
Consolidation of the knowledge and leading role of

Contribution to the cultural offering the cultural life of Catalonia.
The Fundació Territori i Paisatge (Territory and Landscape Foundation) occupies the protection of the environment.
Protection of the high ecological value areas, primarily through management of territories of third and complementarily by means of direct purchasing of territories.
Sensitisation and education of the society in the environment and in the way of protecting it and promotion of new initiatory education and protection of the environment.
The Fundació Un Sol Món (One World Foundation) occupies the attention of the less favoured groups.
Social integration of excluded or alienated groups, primarily through access to a job.
Promotion of new initiatives of social integration thought access to a job and support to their achievement.
Complementarily, supporting groups with necessities and international solidarity.
Fundació Viure i Conviure (Live and Coexist Foundation) deals with the elderly, the sick and the disabled.
Improve the quality of life of the elderly, especially the most disadvantaged (sick and disabled).
Integration of the elderly with the rest of the society / promotion of contact between generations.
New initiatives of help to the elderly and support in their achievement.
