The sons (and nephew) of a Pentecostal preacher, brothers Nathan, Careb and Jaleb Followill and their cousin Matthew are considered by many to be the American South's answer to the Strokes. But instead of rubbing shoulders with the jet-set like their New York counterparts they grew up moving from town to town in America's Deep South. With almost 28 million records sold worldwide, these apostles of rock have evolved from the garage sound of their first two albums -'Youth And Young Manhood' (2003) and 'Aha Shake Heartbreak' (2005)- to a grander, more progressive and cleaner sound on their third and most recent release, 'Because Of The Times' (2007). This development was accompanied by a much raved about change of 'look' (those tight, tight trousers!) and undeniable critical and commercial success. Not happy to rest on their laurels however, they have kept right on working and have announced a new project for 2008 which will apparently rediscover their roots and the raw power of their earlier work.
