These are the guys who won over all the lovers of the original new wave. They breathed new life into fans of groups of like Blondie, We've Got A Fuzzbox, Altered Images, the Ramones, and Adam And The Ants. After the success of their debut album and an extensive tour, after being named "best new British band" by The Guardian and Vogue, and winning the NME Philip Hall Radar Award, The Long Blondes got right back to work on a second album. 'Couples' (2008) is the result, and it sees them fine-tuning their explosive sound under the expert supervision of DJ and producer Erol Alkan (Klaxons, Hot Chip, Justice, Daft Punk). Their cutting observations on love and life in the suburbs still have that same lyrical style as The Smiths or Pulp, but they're now also tinged with nods to Madonna. Sexy, cultured, carefree and desperately romantic, the Blondes are still radiating devastatingly attractive chemical and physical vibes. Weekend Without Makeup
