The Feria de Abril de Cataluña (April Fair of Catalonia) is an annual appointment – replica of the original April Fair of Seville-, organised by the
FECAC (Federación de Entidades Culturales Andaluzas en Cataluña - Federation of Cultural Andalusian Entities in Catalonia) and its Foundation, with the special collaboration of the town halls of Barcelona and Sant Adrià of Besòs, as well as the
Generalitat de Catalunya (Autonomous Government of Catalonia), Junta de Andalucía (Andalusia Meeting) and
Diputación de Barcelona (Delegation of Barcelona).
It is the opportunity to get to know an important part of the Spanish culture, especially flamenco, which forms part of the Barcelonan and Catalan cultural panorama.
The entry to the huts are free and of no cost. Every hut represents a city, town or locality with a representation to some Catalan locality. The visitors have the opportunity to contemplate the performances of the artistic groups of each of the entities.
From its transfer of the original place, which was held in the Mar Bella Beach, up to the Enclosure of the Fòrum, in 2005, the fair had to resign from several typical elements of the festival, one being horses.
The paved soil was one of changes that made the conditions impossible for a fair of these characteristics. Nevertheless, in the edition of 2007, the fair had next to three million people go through.
