The Palau San Jordi (San Jordi Palace) was conceived for the Olympic Games of 1992, and devised by the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, it was inaugurated in September 1990, as a model of the architecture and engineer of modern works. The structure and materials employed grants a great versatility that permits its adaption to the most varied events.

It is a covered venue situated on the Montjuïc Mountain. It has a capacity of 17,000 seated spectators and 20,000 in total with stalls included.

The Palace was the main covered pavilion of the abovementioned Olympic Games, being a stage to the gymnastic final competitions.

In the pavilion sporting events have a place, especially basketball, but also motocross exhibitions, and extreme sport competitions, as well the celebrations of social character and concerts.

The installations also count with a swimming pool of 50 x 25 metres, where the World Swimming Champions of 2003 were held.
