The Palau de Mar (´Palace of the Sea´) is a typical building of port architecture of the XIX Century. It was constructed between 1880 and 1890 to accommodate the old Almacenes Generales de Comercio (General Warehouses of Commerce) and today it is the headquarters of the Historia de Cataluña (Catalonia History) and of the Departamento de Bienestar y Familia (Department of Wellbeing and Family) of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Autonomous Government of Catalonia).

Under the characteristic arches of this splendid building, the establishments of restoration offer its specialties to the visitors: the good weather, the terraces that unfold through the dock, together with the boats tied up.
