The artistic life of Barcelona has always been linked to Plaça Reial (Royal Square). In the characteristics balconies that surround, artists like Lluís Llach, José Pérez Ocaña and Vicente Escudero have lived there. This relation continues to be valid thanks to the number of concerts and shows that are organised throughout the year, like the Festival BAM and others from Mariachi music.

But this square, the only porch lined in Barcelona, is also a reclaim for the aficionados of gastronomy. In it there are restaurants of all types concentrated, like the famous Les Quinze Nits where each day large queues are formed to gain a table or the Taxiderma, that receives that name from the business it was prior.

By night the square is filled with night-owls searching for the party that the music venues in the area form, like Jamboree or Sidecar, famous for the Antikaraoke sessions that is organised each Monday. But there are those that decide to stay in one of the outdoor seating areas that take shelter underneath the porches, or stroll through the populated square where the most picturesque people hang out at all hours.

Right in the centre we find the fountain of the Tres Gracias (Three Graces) together with two lampposts designed by Antoni Gaudí and the very valued royal palm trees during the sun festival. The Barcelonans have been witnesses of the diverse remodelling in this space created during the mid XIXth century that the spirit of this era is still conserved.
