The Marina Market was constructed in 1973 with made with an exposed cement structure.

Situated in the Zona Franca area, it responded to the necessity of supplying to the citizens of this peripheral area of Barcelona that, in the first place, does not dispose of a sufficient commercial offering of food.

Desde su inauguración se ha realizado distintas reformas, la última en 1998, pero las remodelaciones más importantes aún están por llegar. Desde hace unos cinco años se están llevando a cabo un conjunto de acciones que cambiaran la fisonomía del barrio, sobretodo alrededor de la plaza de la Marina.

Since its inauguration different improvements have been achieved, the last one being in 1998, but the most important remodeling has not yet arrived. From five years ago they have been carrying out a group of actions that will change the physiognomy of the district, especially around the Plaza of the Marina.

These include the construction of a new market in the abovementioned square, which will respond to the voluntary of the Ayuntamiento (City Council) of Barcelona to socially energise this district.
