The Carmelo Market, situated in the Horta-Giunardó district, was constructed in 1969.

Following the architectural tendencies of the era, its design is functional and consists of a floor practically squared with a cement structure and nearly 11,000 square metres in total surface. Also, unlike the other older markets of the city it finds itself adjacent to another building.

Since its inauguration, it has suffered a dozen of reforms, the last one in 1998.

It offers a great variety of stalls, which include the typical things that one may find in any market, but also others like sanitary and alterations for the home and even a video club. Also, on Saturday, there is the possibility for its clients to leave the kids in the day care service.
