The Mercat de Montserrat (Montserrat Market), situated in the Roquetes suburb, in the Nou Barris district, was constructed in 1960 and remodeled in 1971.
Like many other municipal markets constructed in those times, it responded to the growing necessities of a peripheral area of the city in demographic expansion.
As such, its architectural characteristics copies the other markets inaugurated in the period commencing in the decade of the ´50´s and finalised in 1974: regular floor and stalls and large walkways.
A part from the remodeling made in 1971, the precinct was the object of other minor renovations, the last one being in 1997.
A part from the typical commercial offering like any municipal market, the Montserrat Market disposes of services such as, a hairdresser, a blue collared shop and a driving school.
