Antoni Serra Fiter was born in 1869, and is the first from a line of ceramists, influenced by Catalan modernism.

Painter in his beginnings, he ended up by specialising in ceramics and founded the first of china and ceramics workshop in Spain, the Manufactura de Porcelanas y Gres Artísticos (Manufacture of Artistic Porcelain and Ceramic), between the years 1904 and 1908.

This supposed an innovation for the epoch, and introduced new forms of baking the mud, since the ceramics were an art strictly artisan and popular, far from this new industrial concept.

Through his workshop have passed great names of sculpture, such as Enric Casanovas, Ismael Smith, Miquel Blay, Pablo Gargallo, Joan Carreras, Gustau Violet, Agapit Vallmitjana Abarca, Joan Llimona, Dionís Renart, or the collaborators Josep Pey, Maria Rusiñol and Xavier Nogués.

He died in 1932.
