I sing for the word; the music then follows... I ask living poets for poems expressly for my voice, and I seek in books the words of those no longer here with us. That is my work, my life and my joy. Fado, perhaps the most powerful cultural tool that I inherited from my father’s country, enables the word to be renewed in oft- repeated traditional melodies.
