In little more than one year, the Welsh Duffy has turned into one of the most dazzling stars of the revitalized British soul scene. Considered by the critiques as one of the firmest candidates to clean Amy Winehouse out as queen of pop soul, Duffy has already had a number one selling in her country with her first album, 'Rockferry' (08), one of the most successful debuts of in the history of British pop.

Writing in collaboration with Bernard Butler (who also is the person in charge of the excellent production), the disc has a careful retro aura with winks to the elegance of Roy Orbison and to the mythical productions of Phil Spector. With topics as round as 'Mercy' - that sounds like it´s been rescued from a girl band of the '60's - a voice of dizziness and the support of names as prestige as Jeanette Lee, it is not strange that the young woman Duffy has gone from promise to star in little time.
