Even in extreme situations, maternal feelings surface. The exhibition centres on a sample of photographs on maternity taken in different parts of the world. The situations of poverty and alienation, the armed conflicts, the AIDS-HIV affected, the refugees that we see in the images bring these realities over to the population in general and, especially, to the children and the young people – inside the line of infantile and juvenile sensitisation of the Programa de Cooperación Internacional (International Cooperation Programme).
The photographer Bru Rovira, editor of La Vanguardia, international reporter and the award winner of the Ortega y Gasset of journalism, travelled the world picking up with his camera one of the most profound and universal feelings of humans: maternity. Each of the photographs included in the Maternities exhibition reflect a vital story as passionate as it is touching.
The sample is accompanied by a series of works (photographs, drawings, texts, etc.), created by children and young people of different schools and that reflect feelings and emotions inspired by the photographs of the sample.
