The prettiest face of the new wave, the group which emerged from the New York underground scene and went on to sell 140 million records… Ladies and gentlemen, we give you… Blondie. Formed in 1974 by Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, Blondie had been scrapping their way around the underground scene until they achieved their first hit with 'Denis', and then, in '78, recorded their first album, 'Parallel Lines'. The rest, as they say, is history. 'Heart Of Glass', that glorious version of 'Hanging On The Telephone' by The Nerves, 'One Way Or Another', 'Sunday Girl', the list goes on and on. It was a perfect album, capable of uniting punk, new wave and disco in one failsafe formula. After that, Blondie had various album successes, flirted with reggae, hip-hop and dance, and generally made anything they tried look easy, without ever losing their trademark irony. In 1999, after a break of more than fifteen years, they reappeared with 'No Exit' and a back catalogue which has stood the test of time like very few others. Heart of Glass
