Carlos Ballesteros and Genís Segarra (Astrud) make up this glam-camp duo named after a shampoo. Fans of vocoders and synthesizers, Hidrogenesse first got noticed back in 1997 on the compilation 'Lujo y Miseria'. After the success of their singles 'Así Se Baila El Siglo XX' and 'Eres PC, Eres Mac', in 2000 they finally made their debut album. 'Gimnàstica Passiva', is a true gem of synth pop where you can also find traces of Góngora and Kurt Cobain, and seven years later came their real masterpiece: 'Animalitos'. Fascinated by mass culture and the Fine Arts, their songs aren’t just mere anecdotes of cheesy pop but rather folk-pop-rock with a big beat sound. Their appeal is down to a strict regime of immersion in other artists, ingesting banging techno and Courtney Love's false rock'n'roll, and getting a combination of nutrients and vitamins from The Human League, whilst moisturising with Sparks, and exfoliating with La Düsseldorf. No hay nada mas triste que lo tuyo
