Gruff Rhys (the mad one from Super Furry Animals) and Bryan Hollon a.k.a. Boom Bip (purveyor of fine electronic hip hop) are inviting us on a trip back to the futuristic Eighties of yuppies, synthesizers, lycra leggings, alloy wheels, The Cars, Italo disco, the film 'Liquid Sky' and, of course, fluorescent colours. The fruit of this collaboration is 'Stainless Style', a stunning concept album full of what Rhys has dubbed 'shiny pop music'. It is a fabulous tribute to the eccentric life and times of John DeLorean, designer of the famous 'Back To The Future' sports car, and notorious womaniser and cocaine freak. With little apparent irony, Rhys and Hollon have cheekily played around with the archetypes of that time to come up with an impressive string of hits, including the awesome 'Raquel', in honour of Raquel Welch (she was once DeLorean's lover), and the chrome-plated melancholic boogie 'I Lust You'. Fluorescent neon heaven! I Lust You
