In this installation the space is literally occupied by transparent threads, almost imperceptibles, but unavoidable. All the threads have their origin on an object, a classical waiting room bench, and are connected to several points of the room creating a chaotic net only visible from determined angles.
Apart from some series of photographs that show us different scenarios, the exhibition proposes a sentimental geography, occupied by these chaotic nets of transparent threads, visible when the lamp falls on them.
There is a persistent subject in Nuria Canal’s work: “the other”. The relationships among individuals are the thematic core of each one of her recent work. This includes her proper relationships and the ones she shares with the viewer.
Her work is especially a process, a complex framework of actions and narrative works, which are only visible from time to time in her productions.
Nuria Canal (Burgos, 1965) lives and works in Barcelona. In 1993 she created the Independent Sample of Video OVNI in the
CCCB (Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona), that she co-managed until the year 2000.
