A former grocery gives way to a venue where eating well doesn't necessarily mean paying expensively. Sikkim restaurant has managed to create, ever since its opening in '00, a warm atmosphere with a style of its own, both in decoration and service, and especially concerning cuisine.

Inspired on a trip by its owners to India, this may lead anyone to think it is another Oriental restaurant. Sikkim, however, embraces the culinary cultures from all over the world, reliving the oriental philosophy of Marco Polo's route, with a wide variety of dishes, both vegetarian and for the omnivorous.

The restauarant is a temple with an exotic atmosphere, candles a plenty, Eastern scents and soft relaxing colours predominate. The Buddha at the entrance welcomes the visitors and entertains the guests, when at weekends it is hard to find a seat, owing to its faithful following of clients in Barcelona and its great receptivity among tourists.

Reservations accepted for up to 25, everyday.

Among the wide offer of salads, entrées, pastas, meats and fish, we point out the Thai salad with scallops, shrimps and Bangkok vinaigrette sauce (7,95€) and the Ostrich fillet with melon chutney and citric yoghurt (17,50€).

As far as desserts go, the coconut soup with exotic fruits is outstanding, or the Cuban chocolate coulant (5,15€) and the fresh cheese mousse with mango dressing and honey jelly (5,80€).

To accompany your meal, you have a score of world wines (German, Moroccan, Alsatian, Chilean, Australian, etc.). We recommend the Viñas del Vero, a Crianza Cabernet (15,00€) and the Costers del Segre Castell del Remei (16,00€).
