Mudanzas (Movings) is a charismatic local which has preserved for almost two decades the same decoration, the same traditional wooden structure and the same essence and appeal, so characteristic of the immutable El Born. It is one of the very few places that has resisted and survived fashions and fads.

Opened in '87, it owes its name to the moving business, Vicenç Vives, formerly located here and whose logo surmounts the entrance door.

A series of paintings by vanguardist painters, such as Tomas Gómez, Albert Gonzalo and Mario Soria enhance the artistic component of the bar.

In the mornings, it is mainly a café, where the quarter dwellers, the local working people and tourists, are the customers. Beside coffee, there are warm and cold snacks and drinks are served.

In the evenings, the customers make up a cosmopolitan and varied atmosphere. Available to the clients are items of the local and international press: quality newspapers and magazines.

Intellectuals, youths, neighbours, yuppies, pseudo-yuppies, artists and hippies, contribute towards the existence of an agreeable and cozy ambience, where it is easy to meet new people.

A curiosity of this bar is that it is a meeting place for people related to the sea. One of the founding partners is a marine officer and the regattas folk and skippers, usually hang about. The venue coordinates for sailors sailing by, are 41º 22' 9'' N and 002º 11' 1''E.

Not surprisingly, as a reference for the bohemian night of the city, Mudanzas, was selected by movie maker Whit Stilman for the shooting of several scenes of his masterwork, "Barcelona".

Another peculiarity is its stock cellar constituted by over 40 different Whiskeys, more than thirty rums and 25 sorts of vodka. If you can manage, try to identify each brand that is hiding behind the logo of Mudanzas.

The house drink is the Cuba Libre with dark rum, squeezed lemon and cinnamon (6,00 euros).

Music is as varied as the audience; in the mornings one listens to Jazz, later on Pop, reggae and house.
