"Rubí" is the first supper club of its kind to open in the Born district of Barcelona. Rubí Supper Club & Lounge presents a new kind of dining come drinking experience, which balances hand crafted cocktails with great international cuisine dishes.

The menu changes with the seasons and includes popular dishes such as the delicious tuna steak, chicken curry or the famous Rubí Hamburger; an experience to remember that the hamburger is not always the synonymous ´fast food´.

The food is complimented by a discerning wine list reflective of the many different wine regions in Spain and abroad.

Recycled antique seating, lounges and walls painted in red tones, high ceilings, stone walls, over-sized mirrors and soft candle lighting lend this once ancient house a warm and detached style. The result is a modern lounge following a style that starts to be very trendy in our city.

The upstairs mezzanine is a special place where one can enjoy the bed like seats in a most tranquil and intimate area with walls ingeniously decorated with original red Spanish wine bottles. Brazilian music, funk, soul, jazz and many more sounds can be enjoyed at various stages of any night in question.

Rubí was inaugurated at the end of September '04. It is a Californian concept of bar plus a restaurant, introduced to Barcelona.

"Supper Club" is a term coined in America in the 20's and 30's when prohibition banned the consumption of liquor and in its absence these clubs were a euphemism for all to enjoy illegal liquor. The restrictions about alcohol and drinking changed but the "Supper Club" survived. These clubs form part of the San Francisco lifestyle, the maximum reference of the liberal culture of the USA.

Locals and foreigners are waited upon attentively at the tables and even when the house is full there is always someone in attendance, since service is the philosophy underlying this bar and restaurant. The staff has also a great knowledge of Barcelona and its hidden treasures, so be sure to ask what Barcelona really has to offer. It truly is a great meeting place to start an unforgettable vacation in a city that is second to none.
