After De La Luna was formed at the end of 1989, from the dissolution of the group Los Estómagos, the band that initiated a new period of Uruguayan rock in 1983, remembered for the first punk band in its beginnings and the most innovator of the time. The initial formation of the Buitres (Vultures) included three ex Estómagos (Stomachs), Gustavo Parodi, Gabriel Peluffo, Marcelo Lasso and Pepe Rambao. Their style of hard melodic rock has identified them since then and with that they have evolved, maintaining potent the essence of live by the expressiveness and communication of their leader Gabriel Peluffo.

Buitres have travelled in extensive tours through the Uruguayan territory and has participated in international festivals in Uruguay as well as Argentina and Paraguay. As well, they have done two tours in Spain (2004 and 2005), where they edited the album 'En La Vuelta'. Until 2007, they have edited 10 studio albums, two live albums and two DVDs (documentary and live). As well, they count with twelve videos directed by Guillermo Peluffo.
