The beach of the fishing suburb of Barcelona, with its 1,100 metres in longitude, is one of the biggest and oldest of Barcelona which makes it also one of the busiest of the whole city.

Very popular with the tourists, it is also the beach of choice, on numerous occasions, by the youth recreational groups and the local schools to carry out leisure activities.

Probably the reason is that it is easy to get to by public transport but also the variety of equipment on offer for fun. Volleyball areas, children´s games, gym or for rollerblades, a ping-pong table and up to a library service, the Bilbioplatja, are some of the options that are available for its users.

Nevertheless, the equipment most in use is, without a doubt in the Centre de la Platja, situated in front of the Hospital del Mar, under a porch, that offers a large range of activities during the whole year, especially in summer.

Also, Barceloneta beach disposes of parking for cars and bikes, public toilets and showers, amongst others.
