Open since '95, the building that hosts the MACBA, is a work by the architect Richard Meier and is part of a rundown district of Raval in a plan of a renewal of the area.

The art collection is mainly from the second half of the 20th Century, but the centre offers diversified contemporary art exhibitions.

Furthermore there are often lectures and workshops for young students.
